Spotlight on Eleanor Mayo
Eleanor Mayo (1920-1981) was the life companion of well known Maine author Ruth Moore. She published five novels between 1945-1958. Her first novel, Turn Home, was adapted into the 1950 film Tarnished. Her books were out of print until Rebel Satori Press republished them in 2015 and 2018. They plan to release previously unpublished work by Mayo in 2024-2025. Learn more about Eleanor Mayo on the Lesbian History Trail of Mount Desert Island website.
